Welcome!

Hello, my name is Abby Farris and I am the author of "Prayer on the Mountain". I decided to start this blog to spread the word of God to the world so that everyone may see how amazing our God and His creation is. I have a huge passion for the outdoors and the natural world. I first noticed my fascination for the outdoors when my family began taking vacations out to western United States to the mountains. I was amazed by the natural beauty of everything from all the flora and fauna to the sunsets to the mass of the mountains. But to me the most beautiful part of it all was escaping from the stresses and anxieties of life to go to the mountains and be in God's creation. I remember waking up at three in the morning to go into Rocky Mountain National Park with my family to catch sunrise on top of the mountains. It was the most breathtaking moment of my entire life. The whole time I couldn't help but think of how awesome our God is that He made mountains, sunrises, sunsets, wildlife and He thought the world needed you and me too. How amazing is that?!

Seeing the mountains pushed me to not only major in natural resources but also use the outdoors as an escape to talk to God in my daily life. Similar to how God talked to Adam and Eve daily in the Garden of Eden, I wanted to escape into nature to talk to God. My hope for this blog is for us to see how beautiful God's creation is and praise Him for it rather than staying indoors all the time being smothered by the pressures, stresses, and anxieties of the flesh. I was inspired to start a Christian blog when I heard a lesson about spreading the gospel but I wasn't quite sure where to start. I started reading a bible plan that takes me through the entire bible and began to notice that many people from the bible go up to the mountain for solitude and prayer including Moses, Elijah, and even Jesus. Then I came across Matthew 14:23 "After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone." Even Jesus needed time away in nature for prayer with God. I hope this blog will lead you to be inspired by God's word and His wonderfully made creation.
