The Biblical View on: Abortion
This post is continuation of my new series called "The Biblical View On..." and today we will be discussing abortion. With all that's going on in politics about abortion and the Roe Vs. Wade case, I felt it was put on my heart to discuss abortion as my next post. As Christians, we need to understand what we are representing and as Christians we must be pro-life. That being said, I will do my best to keep politics out of this post and keep it strictly discussing what the Bible says about abortion.
"You shall not murder." Exodus 20:13
It is simple. Abortion is murder. There is no other way around it. Some wrongly suggest that life begins after birth, but life begins upon conception. It's not a clump of cells. It's not a fetus. It is a baby. This is why we have BABY showers when a mother is expecting. So why does the term change to "fetus" when the baby is unwanted? And if it is a fetus, why is it when a pregnant woman is murdered it is considered double homicide? Others say that there are safe abortions but that also isn't true. Not only is the mother's life at risk, but the innocent baby is also being murdered. "Safe" has no place in that sentence. I would recommend finding resources to learn more about the risks of abortion to both the mother and baby. It is horrifically inhumane. I would go into details here, but I do have some potentially sensitive readers.
" For you formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them." Psalm 139:13-16
Another argument commonly made in-favor of abortions is "if the parents are not old enough or ready to be parents then it is okay". But really, nothing justifies murder. If the concern is that the child won't be loved, then have no fear. God will provide. He did not fearfully and wonderfully make you just to kick you to the curb and say "Good luck". God has taken care of you every day thus far and will take care of those children who are unwanted after birth. He will put the most influential people in their lives with the most open and full hearts. God will use that child's trials to bring them close to Him. Even if others do not love the baby as they should, God will just as He loves each and every one of you.
"Red, and yellow, black, and white, they are precious in Jesus sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world."
" Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
Another argument commonly brought up is increasing the world population beyond carrying capacity. Meaning that if we continue to over reproduce then we will not be able to sustain ourselves and we will have increased poverty levels. Regardless of that argument, abortion is not the answer. MURDERING BABIES IS NOT THE ANSWER. Since when is murder ever the answer? As Christians, if we go along with that argument and don't raise children up in the church, then rather quickly the voice of Christ will disappear from this world and humanity will be lost. People need to hear the good news of Christ to be saved. By removing children (specifically Christian children), there will be no one to be "prophets to the nations". If having your own children is not biologically right for you or you have extra space in your home and your heart, consider adopting or fostering children. There are many feeling lost, alone, and needing to hear the great word of the Lord.
" Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed. When they speak with their enemies in the gate." Psalm 127:3-5
Children are a gift from God to this dark and crazy world. They bring a light and curiosity to life that adults just don't have. They teach us more about ourselves: parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. If you are a teacher, counselor, pediatrician, or work in any other profession that deals with children, you understand their importance to this world. They bring new ideas and creativity. As a bible camp counselor, it is so refreshing for me to get away and hear the thoughts of a child and see the world through their eyes. Watching them grow in the Lord has been one of the most influential experiences of my life and has brought a new light to my own faith.
" There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife." Proverbs 6: 16-19
As Christians we cannot deliberately rebel against what God hates. He hates hands that shed innocent blood. Babies are innocent. They have never sinned, yet society just wants to murder the innocent. Even more so than anyone who actually murders. In fact, they applaud abortion. Even if you are not a Christian, I can guarantee that you wouldn't applaud murdering a newborn baby. So why does the baby being in or out of the womb change it's value? We are even infringing on the baby's constitutional rights to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Imagine how many aborted babies could've helped to cure cancer, lead civil rights movements, been influencers, motivational speakers, or world leaders.
" God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27
If we murder a baby, created in God's image, then what does that say about our relationship with God?
Now I am going to get a bit graphic here: Picture the person(s) you love the most. What if they were aborted? How would your life be different? Think of why you love them. They probably touched your heart in so many ways. Now think of all those aborted babies that will never get the chance to touch the hearts of loved ones. The world will not be the same because of their murder.
" Did not He who made me in the womb make him, and the same one fashion us in the womb?" Job 31:15
The same God that created awe-inspiring mountains, valleys, sunsets, and sunrises also created each and every one of us. And will continually create humans as His great masterpiece. By aborting children in the womb, we are purposefully destroying God's beautiful creation and going to strictly against His commandments. Society loves to preach self-love and loving yourself. I see sayings on all kinds of home decor in stores that say "Love yourself" "Smile" "You're beautiful" "Hello Gorgeous" etc. But why is it that we have to be out of the womb to be gorgeous or beautiful? Are we not the same people as we once were in the womb?

" Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb?" Isiah 49:15
Mothers and babies have a great bond just because the baby can hear the mother from within the womb. My heart breaks for the babies in the womb that grow and the only thing they know is their mother's voice. Just for that same person to murder them. How could someone deliberately want to destroy the most innocent and beautiful form of life there is? Let alone a baby that is half of them.
"Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, 40and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me? 44For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. 45And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.” Luke 1:39-45
A baby in the womb leaped for joy at the news of Jesus. The baby was the first to rejoice for Jesus. These verses prove that there is life in the womb and that babies in the womb have thoughts and emotions. God could've used an adult or a child to rejoice at the news of Jesus, but instead used one of the newest and purest forms of life to increase the effect. If even babies within the womb are rejoicing because of Jesus, shouldn't everyone else? God uses everyone, sometimes even before they see the light of day.
As Christians I hope this post will help you understand what you are representing when it comes to abortion. If you are not a Christian, I hope you will take time to try and open your mind to understand the importance children have in this world and how murder is never the answer. There should be no "if, ands, or buts" about it. Murder is murder. We cannot stay quiet while the innocent and voiceless die each day. As pro-lifers, Christians, or just anyone who sees anything wrong with this, we must take a stand now. Not tomorrow, not later, TODAY! Even if it is just reposting something pro-life on social media or telling someone about why you believe what you believe.
Thank you all for reading, please feel free to comment on your thoughts and share this post!
